Sawgrass Country Club - the area, neighborhood and homes for sale

One of the delightful gated communities of Ponte Vedra is the well established Sawgrass Country Club. Originally built by Arvida as a recreational resort, the community has expanded into 30 different neighborhoods of single family homes and condominiums. It was an early home to The Players Championship which was held there for five years from 1977 to 1981. There are 27 holes of golf and lake systems within the community and there are 5 condominium complexes on the beach side. Access is through four different 24-hour manned gates. In this outstanding gated golf community, six homes have sold since January 2009 year to date of November 30, 2009 ranged in price sold from $300,000 to $700,000. The Average Days on Market in Sawgrass TPC for these homes sold was 74 days. The average list to sale price ratio (% difference from original list price to sale price) was 6.75%.

Twenty one homes remain on the market in Sawgrass Players Club. The least expensive home starts at $359,900 and the price range extends to $2,500,000 for a home in the prestigious Sawgrass Island. According to the information I could gather from the NE Florida MLS, so far this year there have been 351 single family homes sold to real buyers in the Ponte Vedra area zip codes of 32081 and 32082. Some but not many new construction homes in the Nocatee area have been included in this number. As you drive up and down our beautiful streets in the Jacksonville area, you may have noticed leaves of some trees have turned that rusty fall color. But it is way too early for fall foliage. Yes, these are our native Red Bay trees that are dying all over our city and the southeast coastal area. It is not a tree that is purchased from a nursery; it is a tree that appears in our natural habitat. Why do I live in Ponte Vedra Beach? There are so many reasons families move here. We are blessed with an excellent St. Johns County school system, 8 golf courses, including the famous Stadium Course where the Player’s Club Golf Tournament is played each year, beautiful beaches, a great property tax rate, small town feel, etc. Also, in 2005 Ponte Vedra Beach was voted the number one best place to live by Money magazine.
